ActiveCollab 2021 was marked by two important additions: the brand-new mobile app and the built in Chat app. We would like to discuss the reasons for its development and how it works. Let’s get started! The why, the who and the when.
You can make video calls using one app, switch between two apps to work on tasks, or open a third app to send a quick message. It can be confusing to keep up with all the different systems we use to communicate and collaborate. It’s difficult enough to work with people. Technology doesn’t make it any easier. ActiveCollab has been creating new features, in-app chat. This feature has been in development for some time, but this is only the beginning. We are constantly improving our products and would love to hear your feedback. We will also implement the Chat feature in the new mobile app that we launched in June. You’ll be able quickly to communicate with your team from wherever you are. Chats are available in a variety of formats.
There are three types conversation you can have with people: individuals, groups, and teams. You can also have one-on-one conversations, formal or informal, with your team members. You can share messages, files, links, and chat with your team members without having to switch tabs or apps. You can add people to different teams and name them. They’ll then appear in your chat hub. These chat participants can only be added to or removed through the People page. If you have already created teams, they will be waiting for your chat to get started in the chat hub. You can remove someone from a team and they will be removed from the chat hub. The benefits of teams include the ease of inviting people to projects, subscribing for tasks, and @mentioning. Custom groups can also be created without regard to the number of teams. You can create a chat with as many people you want.
If you receive a new message, a bubble appears in the lower-right corner (unless the conversation is muted). You’ll be able access new messages with just one click. You’ll be able to access new messages in just one click, even if you have many conversations.
Sometimes, it is necessary to focus on work and not be distracted by incoming messages. It’s time to turn off sound notifications and focus on your tasks. You can still see new messages and read them. However, the sound won’t bother you and you can choose to mute certain conversations. You won’t be notified of any new messages that appear in those conversations, no shortcuts to your unread messages will pop up, and you’ll see them only if you open these conversations.Infinite scroll
Some chat platforms erase messages older than a set period of time, or give access to older messages only for those who have paid. ActiveCollab allows you to scroll backwards to the beginning of your conversations. Who can participate?
The in-app chat is currently only available to Owner, Member, or Member+ roles. The new feature won’t be available to Client and Client+ role holders. We’d love to explore team collaboration. If our customers decide that they need to chat with clients, we’ll be looking into it.
